In Jan, we were pleased to be the recipients of the Young Entrepreneur Award. The Refinery House is a product of dreaming and discipline, and it’s been exciting to watch our careful steps and planning lead to growth. Aly received the award at the Chilliwack Chamber of Commerce Business Excellence Gala, and we hope it was just a kickoff to a year of being awarded certifications and plaques that remind us we are indeed, getting better and better at being who we already are.
In 2020 we expect to become the first certified B corp salon in Canada (knock on wood). Being a designated B Corp business reflects our commitment to being a force for good in our community and our world. This means a lot of things, and a lot of paperwork, but it’s a verification that policies such as our volunteer policy (staff get paid monthly to submit their community service hours) & our sustainable supplier and product policies (we use local suppliers &/or vet our suppliers to have third party verification in their manufacturing and human resource management processes) are in place and executed. We are proudly a Green Circle Salon, meaning that we go the extra mile to ensure that our waste is separated and recycled to minimize environmental impact.
We’ve committed to being a transparent company to our employees. That means we have clear policies when it comes to any and all staff issues, offer health benefits, provide living wages to any role, and have committed to becoming an employee owned company by 2023.
The Refinery House is FRASER VALLEY made, owned, and operated. It’s you and our team who have proven the success of this “give back” model. Thank you for your support!
