The Refinery House, home of the Industry Commercial Arts Institute, is pleased to announce their 2020/2021 Diversity Action Scholarship program is now open for applicants. Qualified applicants will represent diversity by being a part of a group that has historically and presently experienced discrimination (as defined below). Applications will close once the scholarship has been awarded, or on Sept 8th when the Fall program commences.
This scholarship covers the total tuition cost for a set of 10 courses offered through the Hair Program via the Industry Commercial Arts Program, to be completed in sequential order. The program is 20hrs a week for 26wks, part time for the duration of 6months. The program is designed to provide a blend of theory, observation and practice, we call it immersion training. It’s possible to facilitate this as we happen to have access to a team of some of the top stylists in the Fraser Valley, along with a client pool that ensures there is always a project to watch or participate in.
The Fall program dates are as follows:
- Tues – Fri 10am-3pm Sept 8th – Mar 19th
- GRAD Celebration: Mar 23rd
Periodically there are instances of interruption to service. We do try to give as much notice as possible to accommodate changes to the schedule. As needed, we’ll add training hours in-salon to make up for any missed days. The following are the scheduled breaks for the 2020/2021 program:
- Nov 11 (remembrance day)
- Dec 22-Jan 1st (Christmas Break) (return to school Jan 5th)
Value:
- The scholarship covers the cost of the series of 10 classes (each $950) total: $9500.
A Hair kit, not covered by the scholarship, will be required to participate in the program. The approximate cost of this kit is $1500.
